Wikipedia - SSD Ischia Calcio

Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Ischia Calcio (formerly Societa Sportiva Ischia Isolaverde, better known simply as Ischia) is an amateur Italian association football club located in Ischia, Campania. It currently plays in Serie D, the fourth tier of Italian football.

History

Ischia played in Serie C2 from 1983 to 1987, and then Serie C1 until 1990, when Ischia were relegated to Serie C2. Ischia returned to Serie C1 the next year and played in the third-highest-ranked Italian division until 1998 when the club was excluded by the federation due to financial troubles.

Scudetto Dilettanti 2012–13 and back into professionalism

In 2012–13, Ischia was promoted to Lega Pro Seconda Divisione and won also the Scudetto Dilettanti under the guidance of head coach Salvatore Campilongo. The club's first season back into professionalism was more troublesome as head coach Campilongo was sacked during the season and replaced with Antonio Porta, who led the club to a respectable seventh place and a spot in the inaugural season of the unified Lega Pro league, the new third tier of Italian football. After the end of the season, chairman Raffaele Carlino (a national clothing entrepreneur) relinquished his role on the board, remaining only as the main club sponsor, and former Napoli goalkeeper and Ischia local Giuseppe Taglialatela was named as the new chairman.

Ischia Calcio, commonly referred to simply as Ischia, is a professional soccer team based on the picturesque island of Ischia in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the coast of Naples, Italy. Founded in 1920, the club has a rich history and a passionate local following.

Ischia plays its home matches at the Stadio Enzo Mazzella, a charming venue that captures the spirit of the island and provides an intimate atmosphere for fans. The team's colors are traditionally green and white, symbolizing the lush landscapes and natural beauty of Ischia.

Competing in the lower tiers of Italian football, Ischia has experienced various ups and downs throughout its history, including promotions and relegations. The club is known for its strong community ties and commitment to developing local talent, often featuring players from the surrounding region.

The team's style of play is characterized by a blend of tactical discipline and spirited attacking football, reflecting the determination and resilience of the island's inhabitants. Ischia Calcio not only aims for success on the pitch but also strives to foster a sense of pride and unity among its supporters, making it a beloved institution in the local community.

With a focus on growth and ambition, Ischia Calcio continues to work towards its goals, aspiring to climb the ranks of Italian football while remaining a symbol of the island's rich cultural heritage.
