Western Carolina is a collegiate American football team representing Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) as a member of the Southern Conference. The team's colors are purple and gold, and they are known as the Catamounts. Western Carolina has a rich football tradition and has produced many successful players who have gone on to play in the NFL. The team plays their home games at E.J. Whitmire Stadium, a 13,742-seat stadium located on the university's campus. Western Carolina has a passionate fan base and a strong sense of community support, making them a formidable opponent on the gridiron.
